I really enjoy watching the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) continuously.

I watch them with my kids, mostly my son. His introduction to the MCU was ”The Marvels”. He was 8 years old, was amazed and loved it. The humor, the possibilities, the heroes, the warmth and care, the imagination. Since then he’s been obsessed.

I introduced him to the comic books as well. We live in Sweden and it’s quite difficult to come across Marvel comics in Swedish.

We order them through Retrobokklubben (Retro Book Club), and we dig around at thrift stores for old comic books. Sometimes he read them by himself, and sometimes we read them together aloud, voicing different characters.

There has been quite a fuzz about how ”woke” the MCU has become.

If you’re a fan at all of the comic books, you know that Marvel has always been ”woke”. For me, that has been one of the best parts of the tonality and storytelling of Marvel.

To speak up against racism, sexism, homophobia and bullying. To show what can make good humans make bad decisions. How we’re all beings who in and by ourselves deserves to be respected. That’s often the point of a lot of these stories.

Oh, and by the way! The new Spiderman series (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) is great. It’s also ”woke” as fuck. Go figure.
