Some of my favorite quotes I refer to as principles. One of them comes from Shorinji Kempo, a martial art that I’ve been practicing for the last 10 years.
In japanese it’s “力愛ä¸äºŒ” (“riki ai funi”), which means that strength and love stand together. The founder of Shorinji Kempo, Doshin So, argued that
“Strength without love is nothing more than violence, and love without strength is powerless.”
I try to live by that every day, and it guides me in being a mindful person who act with strength in my care for others.
