I love the idea of collaborative consumption aka the sharing economy. It really resonates with me, and I think it will help to ease the pressure we put on our planet, while it also makes us more connected to other persons and more open as persons. Therefore, me and my family have decided to:
Rent out our mostly unused car
- Invite strangers to our home via CouchSurfing (for free)
- … and
We’re also offering that same couch on Airbnb
- Donate 10 GB of bandwidth (monthly) to the Tor project
Why offer the couch in CouchSurfing for free while also renting it out on Airbnb? Well, some persons are not comfortable with receiving stuff when there is no monetary transaction involved. They might feel like they’re using their host, or like they are uncertain of what is being expected of them. To open up our home to both mindsets, we’re offering the same sofa on two different communities.
We support the Tor project because it help people to communicate safely. Inspired by Edward Snowden & Aaron Swartz.
